Istanbul
Our journey began in Istanbul, one of Turkey’s most vibrant and largest cities. Renowned globally as a tourist hotspot, Istanbul is brimming with landmarks showcasing its Byzantine and Ottoman history. The Byzantine era reflects the legacy of the Roman Empire, while the Ottoman sites highlight Turkey’s imperial past.
We explored iconic sites like the Grand Bazaar, Spice Bazaar, Galata Tower, and the historic Pera Palace Hotel. Each of these destinations is a must-visit, offering unique experiences you simply can’t miss.
One highlight of our trip was the Bosphorus Cruise, where we admired ancient villages, majestic fortresses, and the elegant Baroque summer palaces of the late Ottoman sultans. The Spice Bazaar added a sensory overload of vibrant colors, tantalizing aromas, and rich spices, while visits to Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque transported us through centuries of architectural marvels.
Ankara
Next on our itinerary was Ankara, Turkey’s historic capital with over 3,000 years of rich history. The city is renowned for the Mausoleum of Atatürk, the resting place of Turkey’s founding father, and the ancient remains of Çatalhöyük, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Cappadocia
Cappadocia is a mesmerizing destination, famous for its otherworldly landscapes and fairy chimneys. Exploring its underground cities and ancient cave dwellings felt like stepping into a surreal world. The region also holds spiritual significance, with the tomb of Mevlana and natural wonders like Pamukkale (the Cotton Castle), known for its therapeutic mineral waters and stunning limestone pools.
Izmir and Kusadasi
Our final days were spent traveling from Izmir to Kusadasi, enjoying the coastal beauty and historical treasures of this region. From ancient ruins to vibrant markets, it was the perfect way to end our Turkish adventure.
